The Highlands are a stunning tapestry of Mountains, Lakes, Ponds, Rivers and Streams. where man’s culture harmonizes with nature’s ecosystem. A place to be inspired by beauty and excited in the increasingly rare experience of wild nature. To explore, fish and hunt the Highlands, is to reconnect with a way of life as old as America itself. This region boasts the most remote section of the Appalachian Trail known as the 100-mile wilderness, terminating at Maine’s highest peak, Mount Katahdin in Maine’s “forever wild” Baxter State Park. History runs deep in the Highlands, from the journals of Henry David Thoreau to the days when businessmen prospered in the lumber industry. Many land stewards honor long standing traditions of recreational access and use, blending traditional activities with today’s standards of conservation and environmental conscientious.
